As I am writing these words, I humbly and excitedly announce that Agency of Joy is celebrating its fifth anniversary as a company. Yes, five years of joy, growth, learning, and the beautiful dance of navigating life’s twists and turns!

From the depths of my heart, I extend my gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey. When I started this solo entrepreneurship adventure five years ago, I had no idea what to expect. Reflecting on my journey, I see a tapestry woven with threads of resilience, adaptability, and joy.

Sean A. Watkins has been nominated for Best Individual Performance – Video in the 26th Annual Webby Awards.

The Agency of Joy founder and director is up against the likes of George Clooney and Ne-Yo and is running a social media campaign for fans to cast their votes to help them win.

The nomination comes on the heels of Watkins and Agency of Joy winning silver in the inaugural Anthem Awards which took place earlier this year.

Police are killing us, coronavirus is stalking us, jobs are disappearing and the White House administration keeps throwing gasoline on the whole dumpster fire. And of course, all this is just the latest chapter in a 400 plus-year-old story of systemic racism in this country. It’s one trauma after another, piled on top of us, making everyday life seem unbearable. For many of us, we’ve been saying “I can’t breathe” long before the police killings of Eric Garner, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Tony McDade.

How I Became the Owner of My Own Destiny

“You are the owner of your own destiny.”

A phrase told many times in different iterations over the course of history, it’s often said as a piece of encouragement when times seem to knock you out. From a speech by Steve Jobs to one of those Bob Marley quote posters in college dorms, we’ve heard it before. As someone in love with the stars and all the possibilities which exist outside our own galaxy, I’ve always been intrigued by this concept of owning one’s destiny. Everything I’ve done in life has been fueled by this inner desire of figuring out my destiny. As a lover of humanity and justice, it’s virtually impossible to not see my destiny aligned with a greater purpose of inspiration and joy for the world.
